Information on the village of Lochinver in Scotland.
Situated above, behind and around the Culag Hotel on Lochinver Pier is the area known as Culag Woods (NC 090218). The area is a special place for wildlife and for humans too; where peace and quiet reign. It is a working woodland, managed and run by the local people, and there is always something unusual or special to be seen or heard thoughout the year. Entry can be reached from the road to Inverkirkaig, either just before or just after the entrance to the Primary School. Each is a graded roadway to a car park. Leaflets detailing the walks and places of especial interest, with excellent biological and ecological information, are available from the Culag Community Woodland Trust Office next to the Fisherman's Mission. Culag Woods is one of seventy Community Woodland projects across Scotland which are part of the Millennium Forest for Scotland.
